Should I consider traveling to another country to receive the most cost-effective care?
Tom’s Take: I’ve heard it many times before: A friend of a friend recommended getting a hip replacement (or other procedure) done overseas since it would be much more affordable. Sure, there’s a lot of talk about surgeries costing less the further you travel internationally or in smaller, developing countries. The truth is, from what we’ve found, you can find the best, most cost-effective medical care right here in the United States. You just need to do your homework first.
With forward-thinking programs like Cypress’s Medical Tourism, we research and identify Centers of Excellence all across the country. These are nationally recognized hospitals and clinics that only qualify for this designation when they meet the highest standards for quality and performance.
How do we know the program is working? Our employer-clients are saving an average of 34% per surgery. Plus, patients don’t have to worry about the extra expense of global travel and accommodations. It’s also a whole lot easier to go through the recovery process when you have better access to your medical team and a support system that’s closer to home.
